I am most shocked about how much college expenses have increased in the last 10 years.

I agree, that figure is shocking. I also think wonder if the high increase in public and private school tuition is another factor for seeing a small amount of minorities getting bachelors or higher degrees, as shown in another graph on this site. I think if a family or culture values higher education enough, they are willing to pay or get loans for this high cost-- further contributing to some races or ethnic groups representing large populations of top universities.

It would be great to see a graph beside this (or subtract from these bars) how much financial aid has changed. I'm sure universities give a lot more to compensate for their competitive tuitions.

I think this is really interesting that the price of a college education has risen so much more than inflation, and I am confused as to why this difference is so staggering and how students are expected to be able to leave college without debt in this situation. Whatever is causing the 10 fold increase, the benefits seem unfair/benefitting far fewer individuals than the number of individuals suffering under these high costs.

I find it very interesting and shocking that college expenses have increased so largely and drastically. While it shows many other things increasing also it is outrageous that is has increased ten fold. It is interesting how it is so heavily stressed that children should go to college; however, it is shown that it is becoming less affordable for many people to do that on their own.

Seeing this graph just makes me grateful that I am able to attend college. If I was told my freshman year of high school that I needed to scrap together $200,000 for college, I would have told them they were crazy.

If we could see the Graduate programs figures, it would be even more shocking. If you are struggling with student loan debt check out forgivestudentloandebt.com on facebook.
